This is actually an area we already use in our home. I have always praised my kids on their effort not the outcome. I have told my kids that Talent is a gift from God and it is our job to work hard and make an effort to improve the natural talent we have been given. My son knows that his effort is what matters to me. I started this years ago when his head was getting too big for his britches because of his natural athleticism. I also noticed how much he struggled in school and I let him know that if he is doing his very best and that gives him a D then I am proud of his effort. Easy A's are some kids abilities just like he can run faster than most or kick a soccer ball better.... but it's the effort that counts.
